Doug the Pug is a dog living in Nashville, Tennessee who has gained a large internet and social media following. Born in Ohio, Doug made the move to Nashville as a puppy when his owner, Leslie Mosier, bought him from an Ohio breeder in March 2012. He has a large following on social media and has reached the status of a "celebrity dog." He is the most followed pug on the internet. Doug's Facebook page has over 6 million likes and 10 billion Facebook video views; his Instagram account has over 3 million followers, and his Twitter account has just hit over 2 million followers. Doug also has his own Vine, Spotify and YouTube accounts. Doug has made appearances with various celebrities and has appeared at special events such as music festivals, meet and greets and movie premieres. Among these celebrity friends are Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, John Legend, Cole Sprouse, actors from the Netflix hit series Stranger Things and many more. He also appeared in Katy Perry's music video for "Swish Swish". Doug was recently sent to both Lollapalooza and the first ever Billboard Hot 100 Fest.
After Doug's social media started gaining more and more attention, big companies started paying attention. The first to write a feature on Doug was Mashable. Since then, companies like Cosmopolitan, BuzzFeed, TIME and Huffington Post have begun to take an interest and post their own features of him. His photos have been featured on shows like Good Morning America.
Doug is also the first verified animal on Spotify. Most recently, Doug appeared in an alternative music video for Fall Out Boy's song Irresistible featuring Demi Lovato. Along with appearing with Fall Out Boy Doug the Pug recently appeared with Dustin Lynch at the American Country Music Award show on April 3, 2016. He also appeared with LoCash and Cassadee Pope supposedly talking beer with LoCash and giving Cassadee Pope fashion tips.
Doug and his owner, Leslie Mosier, are also New York Times best sellers for their book Doug the Pug: The King of Pop Culture that was released November 1, 2016. Following the release of his book, Doug went on an international book tour featuring stops in England, Australia, and the United States. To accompany his book, Doug has also released a line of calendars and a line of Doug the Pug apparel. This merchandise follows the themes of Netflix's original hit series Stranger Things and Stephen King's IT. As of 2017, Doug has a net worth of over $500,000.
